The hero Saitama, known for his bald head and single-punch victories, is at the heart of One-Punch Man’s entertaining story. Two seasons full of action have passed, leaving fans excited for more.

Yet, the waiting for One Punch Man season 3 feels endless. When will we see our beloved OP champion again? And what’s causing the long gap? Let’s step inside One-Punch Man’s world and figure out why we’re waiting so much, and for how long we will have to wait.

Recap of One Punch Man Season 2

Before we take a look into Season 3, let’s take a quick look back at Season 2.

A new bad guy came in Season 2 – the clever fighter Garou. Unlike the monster enemies Saitama often fights, Garou thought heroes were the real bad guys. He wanted to become a “monster hunter”. His choices took him on a dark journey, ultimately joining the Monster Association.

Let by Gyoro Gyoro, a psychic octopus monster, the Monster Association posed a big threat to the Hero Association. Throughout the season, there were many exciting battles, like Genos’ crushing loss to the monster fighter Gouketsu. Saitama, as always, solved most problems with his signature single-punch defeats, leaving fans eager for a real challenge.

Even though not all fans loved season 2, it introduced some cool new characters and looked at heroism and villainy in a new way. It also prepared the ground for even bigger threats to come later.

What’s the One Punch Man Season 3 Expected Release Date (and what’s with the delay?)

Though not yet confirmed, evidence suggests a 2024 launch for “One Punch Man season 3”. Why?

  • A lead comes from Voice Actor Kaito Ishikawa, who voices Genos (Saitama’s robot disciple). In January 2024, he mentioned the series on his projects list. He hinted work is in progress and a probable release in the same year.
  • February 2024 delivered what we were waiting for – the first official trailer for season 3. This awesome preview guaranteed new adventures ahead, increasing fans’ excitement.

But it’s July now and the season isn’t out. What’s with the delay?

Possible Reasons for the Season 3 Delay

Waiting for One Punch Man Season 3 has surely been long, hasn’t it? So why the hold-up? Possible reasons include:

  • Animation Quality – keeping the top-notch animation that One-Punch Man fans love can be slow. Animating intense battle scenes, plus Saitama’s powerful strikes needs precise work. Surely, the studio wants the fun to match the buzz, hence more time.
  • Production Schedule is another factor – creating an anime includes multiple complex tasks, like scriptwriting, storyboarding, character designing, and voice acting. If there’s a delay in any part, it could create a domino effect, putting back the release date.
  • Lastly, Studio Capacity (J.C. Staff) could be the reason – the studio creating Season 3 may have a lot on its plate. Ensuring each project gets the focus it needs while handling multiple tasks might cause delays.

One-Punch Man Season 3: Manga Chapters!

From what chapters of the manga, season 3 could start?

One Punch Man’s first two seasons centered around the initial 85 manga series chapters. We expect Season 3 to proceed from Season 2’s ending, diving into the greater Monster Association Arc.

Based on the manga, here’s a hint at where One Punch Man season 3 could start:

  • Chapter 86 onwards: The fallout from the clash with the Monster Association might be the start. The Hero Association’s reaction to the aftermath, such as casualties and the public’s shock at the near annihilation of City Z, will be visible.
  • The spotlight will be on Saitama and Genos: The teaser indicated more focus on Saitama and Geneo’s bond. The manga elaborates on their interaction, with Genos possibly tackling new issues and advancements in his quest to match his master’s might.
  • Welcoming New Challenges: The Monster Association storyline is just a teaser. The manga introduces tougher enemies and groups posing threats to global safety. Season 3 may hint at the arrival of these new emergencies, building anticipation for future plotlines.

There’s no official list for Season 3’s cast yet. However, looking at past seasons and the latest trailer, it’s likely we’ll hear some good-old voices.

  • Makoto Furukawa: The beloved voice giving life to Saitama’s bored yet strong character must come back.
  • Kaito Ishikawa: Again, expect to hear Ishikawa as Genos, Saitama’s committed cyborg disciple.
  • More Heroes: Anticipate the return of favorites like the self-loving hero King (Hiroki Yasumoto’s voice) the skilled fighter Bang (voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji), and the rest of the Hero Association team.

A chance for new heroes to be in Season 3 is possible, especially if the storyline dives into different world parts.
