Remember KissAnime? It was a hot spot for anime lovers, known for its huge collection of anime shows and films. But, things shifted in the past few years, causing it to shut down. This blog will address why it happened and suggest other great alternatives for fans who miss this platform.

Background

KissAnime was a well-known website for anime. It was a streaming site where users could find and view anime movies and TV shows for free. Basically, the platform functioned as an easy way to watch anime without paying.

It worked with its sibling site, KissManga, which was all about manga. People really liked these sites. KissAnime was once the most visited site that offered free pirated anime. People liked its easy-to-use layout, the big selection of anime shows, and the fact they could watch without paying.

But, it’s important to remember that this platform was in the business of sharing copyrighted stuff without permission. This could lead to legal trouble.

What did the site offer?

KissAnime had tons of anime. It had famous ones and others not many knew. Everyone could find something they liked.

Popular titles often included:

  • Naruto
  • Attack on Titan
  • One Piece
  • Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
  • My Hero Academia

Both types of series had many fans thanks to their good stories, interesting characters, and awesome animations.

Plus, the platform had animes that you couldn’t find elsewhere.

Lesser known titles included:

  • Wolf Children
  • Your Name
  • A Silent Voice
  • Garden of Words
  • Violet Evergarden

These had special themes, engaging plots, and great artwork, so they had loyal fans.

With this platform, you could find all sorts of anime genres, from adventurous to emotional. So if you loved anime, KissAnime was the spot.

KissAnime Apk and App

KissAnime had mobile apps too. You could get them as APK (Android Package Kit) files or from app stores (and sometimes from 3rd party sources too). These apps made it easy to see the website’s content on smartphones and tablets.

But, remember, getting and using these APKs or apps was not okay. When you use copyrighted stuff without the right permission, you break laws about intellectual property

Even though these apps may have been more user-friendly, they were just a way to get to illegal content. So, people who relied on these apps took a chance with legal trouble.

Why did KissAnime shut down?

The platform was shut down due to several reasons, mainly legal troubles and copyright violations.

In 2020, KissManga, Kiss Anime’s sibling site, had to close because of copyright claims and new strict laws in Japan against online piracy. This shut down rang alarm bells for the platform, forewarning that it could follow a similar fate. (Source: Wikipedia)

The platform had a run-in with the law earlier too. In 2017, Funimation Global Group, a big name in anime distribution, served a legal notice to KissAnime. Funimation alleged that KissAnime was illegally profiting by distributing their copyrighted material without permission. This case underscored the potential hazards of running a site that houses copyrighted content without necessary permissions.

However, since the platforms’ closure, several mirror websites and other options have popped up to take its place. These sites often mimic the platforms’ format and content, giving users similar anime access. But be careful when using these alternatives. They could also face legal issues or abrupt shutdowns.

Also, these sites might harm your device with malware or bad content. You should stick to legal and good practices when watching anime. Using official streaming services and buying merchandise helps the anime industry. It ensures that those who make animes get paid right. Yes, KissAnime shutting down was hard for some fans. But it’s important to go for secure options that respect copyrights and help the anime industry last in the long run.
